A new venture has been announced through the forum, the "Learn Jive in a Day" classes offered by Andy T-R. They sound like an interesting "crash course" to Jiving for anyone who gets bitten by the bug and wants to pack in as much learning as possible in a short amount of time. See this thread.
In spite of the dancefloor at the Bournemouth Pavilion having its planned floor refurbishment postponed, Ceroc Live went ahead with classes and a freestyle there. A number of people attended the freestyle but most of the comments seemed to be concerning the state of the floor. Read the reviews here.
There's a new Jive organisation on the block. Roc-King Riots opened the doors to their first freestyle at the Christchurch British Legion. It was a surprisingly good venue and it appears that the organisers have started on the right foot and it should improve as more people find out about it. Read a review here.
The Halo Dance thread seems to be still attracting comment. However, the focus seems to have moved towards the ethics involved in the use of Facebook groups to attract people to an event. This was split out into a seperate thread but didn't seem to have attracted much comment.
Indeed, the latest thread in the Q and A section is Jiveonaut's enquiry about the correct way to teach a seducer....I'm not sure if there are more than a couple of ways.
Other threads of note were about the Ceroc Live Freestyle at Wilton, another enjoyable night at Ceroc Fever's Jive Jukebox at Minstead and also the more distant LeRoc Surrey's Big Summer Freestyle at Leatherhead.
The Forum seems to have gone a bit quiet lately. This could be because it's summer time and people are off doing other things, it could also be because people have lost interest in it, the novelty has worn off. However, I'm hoping that interest will be rekindled as the Autumn approaches and I'm looking forward to some lively exchanges in a Jive context. I hope people feel free to speak their minds on this forum and don't feel intimidated that what they say might be "set upon" by others. There will always be more than one side to an issue, many different opinions and that is what makes it interesting. Keep on Jivin' .
