I know this forum is read by those who already do Modern Jive and this workshop is aimed at complete beginners but maybe you know someone to pass the details on to?
So what is it?...
"Learn Modern Jive in a Day" is a one-day, 6 hour course developed over the last year-and-a-bit. It's aimed at complete beginners - and it WORKS!
We teach quite a lot of technique as well as moves so that our dancers have a good grounding in leading/following/spinning/hand-holds/etc. We also explain why things work better one way than another.
We use a lot of fun exercises to show our dancers the 'feel' of what they are trying to achieve for when they apply it to 'moves'.
We also focus on the other person's point of view - for example, why men should work hard to make their lead clear and why ladies must allow themselves to be lead!
By the end of the day followers will be following nicely and leaders will have learnt to lead four beginner moves (in their sleep!), five beginner moves (to a standard that depends how fast they learn) and a simple lean.
And who is it for? ...
Complete beginners.
Singles or couples (but workshops are leader/follower balanced).
Those who want a kick-start before doing weekly lessons.
Those who cannot commit to weekly lessons.
Those who don't want to 'take-up' Modern Jive but just need a few moves (for example, for a forthecoming wedding/party/etc.).
Those who are just plain impatient
The details:
Greyfriars Community Centre, Christchurch Rd, Ringwood, Hampshire, BH24 1DW.
The first Sunday of every month.
£45 per person (includes 6 hours tuition, refreshments, a 23-page bound set of notes, access to an online revision video).
Booking is ESSENTIAL. _________________ Andy |

FREE PLACES
We have three free places to offer to men on the 5th Sptember course.
We balance lead/follow numbers and have spare ladies looking to come along - but we need men (we rotate throughout the workshop).
Short notice I know but if you know someone who wants to learn or who has done a bit and wants some free and intensive extra learning time maybe it would suit them? _________________ Andy |
