This was a four hour workshop given by David and Val Rokov (of Ceroc Newbury and Utopia and Utopia Twisted fame) with a following hour freestyle session for practice. It was excellent. It was everything I had hoped it would be. Having done a previous Blues workshop with a Tango flavour and attended an American Blues class and heard about other types of Blues dancing, I was beginning to get confused about what type of Blues dancing I should be doing. This workshop cleared it all up for me. David and Val are brilliant teachers and used twin mics to get their points across very clearly from both the man's and the woman's point of view. The initial hour dealt with some of the basics but the remainder of the workshop went into some specific moves highlighting the Blues feel to them all. The pace of the class was just right and the content, while taxing towards the end, wasn't too much to take in and left me keen to practice what I had learned. There were some summary notes distributed at the end for reference and David and Val did something which I had never heard of happening before, they danced the whole set of moves while allowing themselves to be filmed on the trusting concept that no-one publish the film anywhere public (e.g. YouTube, Facebook etc). This was an incredible concession as just having the moves on film is an invaluable aid. I can't recommend too highly David and Val's workshop and I will certainly be looking to attend any future ones. Thank you David and Val. _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."
