It has been quite a while since I have been to this venue..and not since Dan took over the franchise so I was interested to see how it was going. The answer was very well indeed. Well over 100 dancers attended this event in spite of it being a Bank Holiday Sunday. The venue itself is excellent, and the dancefloor was very smooth, almost too slick for some shoes and everything was very well organised. I had some great dances and everyone was very friendly. There was also a free raffle celebrating a year that Dan has been in charge. That brings me to the music....while realising that everyone has different tastes in music and understanding how difficult it is as a DJ to cater for everyone's particular demands, I do have to say a couple of things about Dan's music. Firstly, I would say that he played a great selection of tracks, from pop to Tango and lots in between which was all great but, I had two particular nit-picks...one that several tracks were obviously auto-queued so that just as you were lining up that big final move, the tracks faded out ! The other nit-pick was a couple of the mixes played were, to my mind, far inferior to the original versions with one actually causing me pain to the ears . Apart from that, I had a great night's Jiving and would thoroughly recommend anyone taking a visit to this lively venue. _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

Absolutely agree with all the comments above but as a person who attends every team le roc freestyle I know I am always going to get a great night every time. Bar in the venue with very reasonable prices, great floor, music for everyone, sweets on arrival, warm and inviting atmosphere. Lovely to see team le roc beginners that with only a few weeks under their belts felt confident to come along and report afterwards what a great night they had (hardly saw them sit down) Floor etiquette worth a mention, after some of the reports I read lately I am glad to report it is always excellent here with everybody respectful. Just a note about this, as a coach I do make it a part of the learning process to be mindful of others on the floor and also dance and floor etiquette i.e.: bringing drinks in etc. Hopefully it pays off in the long run. Roll on the next team le roc freestyle _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step |
