As I expected, it was very busy. However, there was room to dance, well, there would have been if people were observing any kind of floorcraft. It was a massacre. I would be surprised if anyone managed to escape without any bumps and bruises or bloody noses. While dancing with several partners, they were kicked and barged and that is in spite of me using continual evasive tactics and even to the extent of having to push people away who were just backing into me and my partner. That rather marred the evening for me but in spite of that I did have some great dances as there were some lovely dancers there, especially when the coffee and cakes were being served when the floor thinned out a bit. I wasn't too impressed by the music selection, not that it was bad it was just that not many of the tracks really had me leaping up to dance. I did dance in Room 100 a bit but found the music rather confusing there as it seemed to be a mixture of WCS type music and Jive at times. However, I did manage to try out some of my fledgling Blues moves which was a bonus. Overall, I did enjoy my night, I just wish some of the people there could have been a bit more considerate of other dancers.

For me, a disapointing night at the hub Sad
As SJ said, the floor craft was awful Mad It wasn't as jam packed as some nights and yet, I saw several ladies having to be helped into a seat after an injury of some sort. (alas, me too) Kinda marred the night for me too.

As for the music, i found it uninspiring and overplayed with only a few new songs thrown in.

Not one of the Hubs best nights.

Some people never learn. They keep returning to these overcrowded duff nights. Unfortunately, that included me! I said I would never return, but had the last minute urge to dance last night and wish I hadn`t bothered.
We left early as my wife got trodden on. The music was dull and gave us no reason to leap to the floor. It was like listening to suicide FM.
(not unlike a jive I went to last week, but they are still in their early days, so haven`t left any comments on that. The hub should know better)

It does seem to be all about the tea and cakes these days, rather than putting effort in to the more important things. I may be old fashioned, but I can never understand why these jives all offer this now. I come to work off the pounds, not put them on. Maybe they should all be readvertised as tea dances.

I don`t know what time the hub finishes as I have never stayed to the end, but I do feel they should go in to injury time!

I won`t be going back to the Hub..and this time I mean it!

I must admit it was the most disappointing Hub I have had as well.

It seemed a lot of the dancers in the main room had just given up on floorcraft after so many overcrowded nights, and the music that I heard was dire for me, virtually all overplayed and virtually all old.

And the second room was bizarre. For well over a year now the second room has played chill out music, mostly WCS with a small amount of Blues.
For some unaccountable reason, despite there being an actual busy WCS lesson, the second room was subjected to mostly medium to medium-fast jive music with only small pockets of WCS/Blues music. I've never known so many people in that room cheesed off and even leaving early.

It's a great venue, but CerocLive are ruining it with there need to cram more cattle into every niche and corner.

Well well!!!

Steve said .... ''My most dissapointing Hub yet''!

I agree they try to cram too many people in and the music wasn't brill, neither was the sound quality ..... people who know me, know my prob and so I always ask a few what they thought of the sound quality, but all agreed it was weak.

Would it not be a good idea to sell tickets on a gender balance system like 'Twisted'?

I noticed Room 101 was busy when I arrived and expected to see it that way when I ventured in there later but it was really quiet - Steves just explained why! The one place where wcs can be danced............?

I got 4 or 5 wcs dances ( well a jolly good try at it ) Smile .... in at Minstead last time by the way........ Smile

Mmmm floorcraft....... apologies to the two people I caught with my shoe.... so sorry, obviously its not meant!

I think the coffee and cake bit is a nice idea, gives a chance for the floor to clear for a while anyway:) Saying that I've only ever taken to queuing for cake at the Twisted events, as its a 2am finish and I'm usually in dire need of an energy boost!!

What I do love most about the Hub is the offering of chocolate on the way out and everyone I've driven there is usually instructed to get me an extra bit lol !!!!

Sorry I missed dancing with you sj - see you at Minstead Smile

I ventured down to the Hub and generally had a good evening. Although I think it will be a while before I return. A journey time of just over an hour to get there. The music was adequate, but not inspiring. Some of the floorcraft of people who should know better was dreadfull. One lady -quite rude - after being refused a dance "sorry out of breath" while still talking to the lady, she was asked by another and went straight onto the dance floor. I think I am quite a competant dancer, but ladies don't let the glass eye-wooden leg- one arm and two left feet put you off. The final straw was missing seeing SJ parade his "blues" moves...although I was only looking out of the corner of my one good eye....he he he.
