My first venture to a freestyle at this venue. I decided to do the BBQ, in order to meet people first, which was midly successful. Class at 8.15. Nice and easy moves followed by the "last move groan" - footwork never received well. For me the evening was just ok. Music was enjoyable, but not outstanding - floor was good and the venue is brilliant. Had good dances throughout the night. However, I did get turned down 3 times, which I found a little disappointing. Talking to some regulars, they told me to try a "twisted" evening for better music. So I will try this venue again in September. |

I've been to Ceroc Newbury Freestyles several times now and always had a great night. The BBQ food beforehand was very good however it would have been nice if there was somewhere outside to sit and eat. The music is always good here, plenty of new tunes to keep one interested and of course the venue is excellent. I enjoyed the class taught by Bill & Becky even though like most others couldn't get the footwork on the last move. David and Val were never off the floor and must have danced with a good percentage of the 200 people who turned up. I haven't come across any other teachers who make this much effort in this respect and really appreciated my 2 dances Val.
I know a lot of people like the Utopia / Twisted events but these normal Jive freestyles are my favorite probably because I cannot dance slow blues |

Thanks for the review Nigelz. There were picnic benches out on the grass and the doors were open where we were serving the food. Maybe you were too fixated on your sausage to notice? |
