Yeah it was alright. I can't say it was the greatest freestyle I've ever been to. Everything SJ has said is true, but three things really didn't float my boat. They were:
1) the oh so obviously rigged draw. (see above.... )
2) the DJ played an EDITED version of Michael Buble's 'Just haven't met you yet' WHY WHY WHY????????????????????????????? Why did he feel the need to cut the slow quiet bit about 2 mins 45 in? It was just wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. And he sounded like a railway station announcer: ie indeciperable....
3) While the floorcraft of dancers dancing was OK, the floorcraft of not dancers and consideration of those not dancing towards those who were was poor to the point of awful. There were people walking across the floor to the bar, people standing having chats in the middle of the room, a lady with a camera not being aware of what was happening around her while she took happy snaps, and even worse taking photos of stationary people posing ON the floor, people with meals walking across the floor, people barging through to get to a clear part of the floor. I did a huge number of emergency stops, changes of plan and collision avoidance to miss these people who had seemingly little or no idea of how to behave, or at least of their surroundings. Several nearly got smacked in the face as, oblivious as they were to the dancers dancing, when an arty hand wafted out like it as not one of these eejits was walking straight into it. It was non stop, all night and got quite annoying.
To end on a positive note, the DJ played a good mix of tracks, the floor was great, the barbie and spread was massive, and I had a lot of fun, including one of the best dances I've had all year. It just could have been so much better if people not dancing had shown some more thought towards those who were. _________________ Words are good, but hens lay eggs. |
