Since this subject has been brought up on a recent thread , I felt that it warranted a thread of its own to get people's opinions. The issue is that Facebook provides groups etc to assemble like-minded people so they can be emailed in one go. This is fine for people who have voluntarily signed up for the group and expect to receive emails from the group administrator. However, it appears to be possible for other people to access those members through the group and it seems to have led to a proliferation of what can only be called Spam, namely unsolicited emails from people promoting their own events. It was suggested that this is tantamount to walking into a rival venue and distributing leaflets, which doesn't seem so far from the truth, to my mind, and I, personally am a little tired of being bombarded with multiple announcements of upcoming freestyles. What do other people think? Just because the facility has been provided by Facebook, what can be done to protect people from this sort of thing? _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

You can identify, admittedly with difficulty, the source of the message (spam )and then block the person responsibly
I have had to block the organizer of certain weekenders because of this
A pity because she a really a lovely lady
you can also submit a spam report, if enough people do this the person get banned from face book |
