Just wanna drop a note saying how good this was. Five excellent teachers (sorta) imported from London, USA and Australia
I thought the split format catered for absolute beginners and the more experienced well. It mean't that no one was out of their depth for long and no one felt 'unchallenged'. And each 'set' of teachers brought something unique to the workshop. As a format, I thought it worked really well and great value for money.
The freestyle was fantastic. Half local dancers and half visitors. The crew from London set the standard, but I think us local dancers held our own in the 'get up there and strut your stuff' stakes
Even the barbecue in the middle where us keen dancers were just biding our time was a very pleasant interlude. Much fun.
All in all, a great afternoon and evening. Thanks to Ian and Mandy for organising it. More!!! _________________ My local WCS dance guide: http://www.southernjive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=726 |

Went to this feeling rather nervous as my only experience of WCS is the very few classes that I did on a weekender. I needn't have worried...Everybody was very friendly and the poor men who had to put up with my faltering attempts to follow their lead were all very encouraging...Thank you all
On the whole, I found the teaching to be very clear and concise, and all of the teachers were more than happy to offer help between classes. It was also very refreshing to see the teachers stay on for the freestyle.
I have to say that I found the freestyle very daunting, particularly as the dancers from London were so impressive. I guess being one of the least experienced dancers there made me feel very self-conscious
Many thanks to Ian and Mandy for going to the trouble of organising this event.....I would definately give it another go! |

My first post on here.
Just to say a big thank you to all those who made the WCS Bramshaw event a such a great success. Busy workshops, a chilled BBQ or a meal in the local Forest pub and a really well attended freestyle party.
A special thanks to our guest teachers Samantha Buckwalter, Kevin Flyn & Suzie and Peter Fradley & Amy Munster. Everyone got something from the workshops. We where really pleased that all the teachers stayed around to dance the night away.
It was great to see a good mix of visiting dancers and local dancers. 80+ dancers.
We are planning another event in September.
In the mean time it would be great to see the Westies in Studio 100 at the next 2 Tone event on 24th July. We will both be there this time and Ian will be spinning the tunes for WCS & Blues. _________________ No longer on this forum, but cannot remove account. |
