I am not a moaner or anything like that just wanted to express myself.
I like going to other jive nights to have fun and dance with different people, just to have a good night.
I dont go round snooping other dance nights for potential customers or act that am better than the rest. (just wanted to make that clear)
However i do frown against other demotrators/coaches going to other nights and making it clear they want you to come to their Modern Jive night...
This i found last night at a venue (I wont name as i dont want to create an argument) when i arrived i noticed people looking sheepish towards this person who i know demostrates for another dance night. until a few dances i noticed the person was asking all sorts of questions whilst dancing with different people, when the person was approched by another dancer the first sentence that come out was "I see you are slumming it tonight".
I have seen this happen before at another venue with the same person and i find it disgusting immature behaviour.
If this person has read this post PLEASE PLEASE just go have fun at other venues and not try and poach for your dance nights.
this is the end of my Rant i hope you have fun reading this.
Hope to see you jivers around!!! |

You have a good point there, G-Man. I'm not sure if you are talking only about classes but I have been to freestyles where there have been up to 5 other independent Jive organisers and they are there to enjoy the evening, see what people are dancing to, and socialise. I'm not aware that any of them actively promoted their own organisations during the evening, and knowing them, I'm fairly sure they did not do so. I think it's beneficial that organisers are aware how other organisations are doing things. I find it strange that Ceroc forbids their staff to attend other organisation's events as I'm sure that there would be benefits both ways. However, what you are really talking about is professional courtesy, that other organisers should be able to attend other events without using it to promote their own. I believe most organisers do adhere to this principal but I suppose there will always be one or two that don't. _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

SJ says Quote: | I find it strange that Ceroc forbids their staff to attend other organisation's events as I'm sure that there would be benefits both ways. |
SJ this statement is no where near the truth and is ill informed! All Ceroc Fever teachers, door crew, coaches, venue mangers are all welcome to, and do attend non Ceroc events. I also know that other local Ceroc franchisees adopt a similar approach. Many of our team enjoy the freestyles at Admiral Lord Nelson put on by Love to Dance and where the music is provided by DJ Andy. Some of our team have attended MoJive events over the last year, but not so much now. I also know our team attend freestyles put on by Jive Easy, Jive Madness and Jiveolution. So how does this fit in with your statement?
Ceroc Fever welcome anyone to our nights to socialise, have fun and dance. However, like G-man, we do not find it acceptable for anyone to use our events to promote their own events or to 'poach' dancers. We work very hard at building our own nights and are very fortunate that this kind of behaviour happens very rarely, and that we have good relationships with our dance neighbours (Ceroc or otherwise). We have no issue with any organiser coming to our nights or with any of our Ceroc team attending theirs. |

Apologies, Olly, I stand corrected. I must have been mis-informed. _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

I believe that is exactly what G-Man is talking about. Going to other organizers events purely to promote your own or/and "poach" other dancers is a disgraceful and highly disrespectful way to behave. In truth it is likely to backfire anyway as I'd have thought it would put more people off than encourage them.
When I first started Le Jive down here, I am sure there was fear of me employing similar tactics. Hopefully, now that some months have passed and the dust has settled, other organizers in this area have seen that I wouldn't dream of such a thing!
To an extent, the people attracted to and attending a venue is due to the hard work the organizers put into promoting that venue/event. I say "to and extent" as, of course, there are other factors involved. I feel that Organizers and crew/team members should respect the efforts of each other. I also feel that this is nearly always the case - like SJ said; there will always be the odd one or two. But then that's like anything - just look at football..! _________________ http://www.le-jive.co.uk/

Do you know what, it is a very sad sad thing when certain jive organisations get hit up about other jive dances.
The fact is if they are good enough they should not have to worry about other people marketing their products.
We are all doing something we enjoy what is the problem with some peoples narrow way of thinking PUT THE FLYERS OUT - TELL PEOPLE -GET THE PEOPLE IN and stop moaning and start enjoying jive LIKE IT USED TO BE in its revival days in the mid 90s |
