Hi QDOS,
I'll just quote something from Rich P in response!
Quote: | One thing I'd like to point out, the music direction at Ceroc venues is decided entirely by the DJ, franchise owners (in my experience) merely provide guidance |
So, if we take Rich P's comment as red, then there should be someone there who is responsible for the music...
When it comes to the Pavilion as a specific venue - I've not been to the Pavilion since the Ceroc take over and haven't, therefore, got first hand experience of how it is now being run... _________________ http://www.le-jive.co.uk/

You'd like to think so wouldn't you? but I can assure you I've spoken with the DJs and Richard (Ceroc Live Richard that is as Richard P is a different Richard, confusd me too) on numerous ocassions and Richard Ceroc Live most definately intends to play the music he likes regardless of what the customers want.
But going back to the original point of this thread, surely it's not difficult to make sure the music being played during the event flows and isn't repeated. That's the whole point of having people and not machines. |

I hope this doesn't shock you too much qdos but I, like TeeDee and others, am also a laptop DJ...! At freestyles I am more traditional and will stay on stage, but at classes I don't feel there is as much need. At the end of the day, it's the music that is played that really matters, not whether the DJ is on stage or not, or whether the DJ uses CDs or a laptop. I've been a laptop DJ for a long time and never had complaints about this fact.
I do not really know Richard & Maddy well but I know Ceroc Live run a large number of very successful venues so they know their stuff, I'd recommend a constructive email to them and I'm sure your gripes will be dealt with |

Richard I agree yet again with you. It's all about the music but it's also about the people and listening and ACTING on the feedback. Ceroc Live are doing a fine job of totally ignoring all the feedback to the extent that they are even not bothering to show themselves at their own events.
I'm glad to say that this is not the messages I'm heaing about your Ceroc events and I'm hoping to pop along to one soon to learn from your classes and dance to your Playlist While I'm there I'll show you some photos of very empty dance floor of the "sucessful" Ceroc Live Pavilion clear out |

Cool, I look forward to seeing you around sometime
I've only been to the Pavilion once since the Mo'Jive - Ceroc handover. I had a great evening there: good venue, good music and good dancers... I couldn't see what all the fuss is about! |

Just an aside to inform people that the Hamworthy venue isn't managed by Ceroc Live who manage Bournemouth, Wilton, Warminster, Bath etc but directly from "Ceroc Central" in London. I understand that the management there are aware of people's concerns and are taking steps to rectify the situation. |

I would like to confirm that I have now been assured by Ceroc Central that the Wednesday night incident has been discussed with those concerned, and it would appear that there was a "technical glitch"!
Whilst I am still not convinced that it wasnt possible to rectify the situation on the night, I am happy that the matter has been dealt with appropriately and am sure that it wont happen again.
I know that there have been many criticisms regarding Cerocs listening skills and customer care, but my experience has proven the complete opposite |

Hmmm it's listed on the Ceroc Live venues web page and most of the crew are listed as the same too. Perhaps there's been some changes and maybe Ceroc Live ought to update their website?
Good to hear people are listening though. Perhaps a tad slowly but hey if this forum helps improve things via feedback that can only be a good thing surely ? |

I think it is very clear from customers that we all like a DJ on the stage - it adds to the atmosphere - also I've known many DJ's across several companies to change the music to the audience they have in front of them. As far as I can tell they haven't invented a laptop yet that looks out and takes a straw poll on the audience- I might be wrong
Also I think that Laptops are a cop out - yes it is the music that counts - but who is programming it??! |

There needs to be a DJ present, but whether he uses a laptop is of no interest to the dancers. |

I couldn't agree more with you. I've often sat thinking there ought to be a hit or miss button on the tables at the Pavilion recently. What's very sad at some of these events is that the laptops are set up before hand with a playlist by someone who's not even present at the venue. In my opinion it's a power trip on behalf of the corporate licence holder. Sadly some DJs don't have much choice what they play so you can't really blame them for wandering off to the bar and leaving the computer to churn out what it's programmed to do.
I think we'd all agree a good DJ is what we'd prefer to have on stage spinning the discs. Come to think of it if there's no one on stage doesn't that make it wasted dance space ? |
