Then please join ('like') this facebook page .
Facebook Southampton WCS
There are a lot of people in the Southampton, Totton, Eastleigh, Fareham area who wish to learn WCS, or at least 'give it a go', and nowhere to do that.
The idea is that the facebook page will test interest in a new WCS night in the area, either by attracting an existing organisation to run it, or possibly by arranging something with like minded local dancers.
If you are interested in a local weekly WCS night, please click the 'like' button to join the facebook group. If you can volunteer to help, maybe on the door, as a coach, demo or teacher, please also let us know.
If you are not a facebook member, then please drop me a line at sotonwcs -AT- gmail.com if you are interested.
Lets see if we can get WCS up and running again down here .
Thanks,
Steve. _________________ My local WCS dance guide: http://www.southernjive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=726 |

There's some real movement in getting in west coast swing in Southampton now. This facebook group has over 300 members who want it in Southampton:

I think you will find that many of the people have been 'added' by the group administrator, which is not the same as 300 people joining the group. For example, I was added today, but really have no interest in WCS in Southampton and will be removing myself at some point!
I suspect that many people on FB are added to various groups that they are ambivolent about, but just don't bother leaving. This form of marketing is an easy way of credibility to your group and making it look really popular to encourage others to join. |

I was added and have now removed myself. _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

I believe that WCS is coming to Southampton at The Mo'Club starting Mon 19th Sept
This was posted on the facebook page
OPENING NIGHT MONDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2011
When I stepped off the Mo'Jive stage a year ago to concentrate on West Coast Swing It was my dream to come back to the Mo'Club and bring West Coast Swing with me …...... I am now very excited to do exactly that …...
MONDAY NIGHT WEST COAST SWING AT THE MO'CLUB
...
The class will be taught by the fabulous Steve Hunt
Steve is a fantastic teacher with a fun approach to West Coast Swing. He regularly travels to America & Europe competing at All Star Division Competitions, and has a shelf full of trophies.
He has recently added to his collection this weekend by coming 1st in Open Strictly at World Swing Masters.
If you have never heard of West Coast Swing it is a partner dance which is danced on a slotted area, its main characteristic is a smooth elastic look due to the dances extension and compression techniques. The dance enables you to play and above all have fun with the music.
Schedule of the evening
Doors open at 7.45pm
Beginner Class at 8.00pm – 8.45pm
Practice 8.45pm – 9.00pm
Improver’s Class at 9.00pm – 9.45pm
Social Dancing 9.45pm - 11.00pm
No need to book £7.00 on the door
Any question please feel free to email me wcssouthampton@yahoo.co.uk
Looking forward to catching up with you all on the dance floor

Yup, just to confirm, the second group are nothing to do with the first one, Southampton WCS, that was created by me. Mine is independant, just want the dance down here! The second is associated with WCS teacher Steve Hunt.
More than happy that WCS is starting up at the MoClub. I remember that was where I had my first WCS lesson when that new hall first opened (well, close). Seems like a different era now .
Good news!
I shall be there. _________________ My local WCS dance guide: http://www.southernjive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=726 |
