This is a WCS freestyle held by Mike Rosas organisation, DanceSwingUK. Stock Cross is one of those Minstead/Bramshaw type villages just outside Newbury, and this freestyle takes place in their village hall.
This was the second one of these, and my second visit. The first was under-attended as it clashed with another WCS freestyle just a few miles further North. This one was much busier tho.
Hall is a typical village hall, but it is pleasant, airy and seems to not trap the hot air in at all. Relief!
Good dance floor, ample chairs and tables etc. No bar, but drinks provided at reasonable price. Free water.
There were a few improvers, few really good dancers and all the standards inbetween. A very good mix. Very friendly crowd, nobody seemed scared to ask, male or female. Nice to see good dancers asking the improvers to dance as well, and kudos to Mr. Rosa for dancing with everyone in sight, I wouldn't be surprized if that included the neighbours .
Music was usual WCS smooth songs, some well known tunes, some new'ish stuff. Played a few of my current favs which is always good .
I had a very enjoyable night, looking forward to the next one. _________________ My local WCS dance guide: http://www.southernjive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=726 |
